The soundtrack of Wanderstop does its job beautifully, evoking a warm, introspective atmosphere that makes you want to curl up with a hot drink and just exist in its world. The background music carries a sense of gentle melancholy, perfectly complementing the themes of the game. NPCs have their own distinct musical motifs, reinforcing their personalities and emotional arcs. However, while the game’s audio is strong, it’s not perfect. Kimberly Woods’ voice work for Elevada is fantastic, adding much-needed depth to the protagonist’s internal struggles.

For as sweet and wholesome as it may seem on the surface, this is a piping hot cup of tea that left a lasting mark when spilled.
Most of us grew up never really knowing why we are the way we are, brushing things off as personality quirks or personal failings, only to hit adulthood and go, "Oh. Oh, so that’s why I struggle with this. Oh, so that’s why I react that way. Oh, so that’s why I can never just let things go."
You can decorate as much as you like – fill the entire map with plants, cover the walls in photos – but Wanderstop doesn't outright ask you to do much at all. That's what makes it such a treat. Offered alongside a beautifully told story and a collection of defined challenges is unrestricted access to a virtual garden of your own design.
Elevada is, of course, resistant. Throughout the game she will try to run away, find excuses, distract herself, create needless objectives, and be outright unpleasant to anyone who tries to help. In all her battles against the strongest foes this world has to offer, she evidently never suspected her toughest fight might be against herself and her ceaseless craving for momentum.
As Alta, a former warrior now reluctantly running a teashop in the forest, you'll juggle fulfilling orders while grappling with existential uncertainty. Alongside your companion, Boro, you’ll settle into this slower-paced life—whether you like it or not.

The forest in Wanderstop—the place where Elevada starts to heal—isn’t a cure. The voice inside her head doesn’t stop. It doesn’t erase her struggles. It only gives her the information she needs to start working on herself. And that? That’s all healing ever really is.
Foraging is another key part of the process. Tea leaves are scattered throughout The Clearing, waiting to be picked. I do wish we could also plant our own Wanderstop Gameplay tea bushes, but alas, foraging is the only way. We also gather mushrooms, which can change the properties of the fruits we use—sometimes in expected ways, sometimes in ways that completely surprise us.
At first, it’s subtle. The way she pushes herself even when there’s nothing left to push. The way she clings to routine, to structure, to doing something at all times, even when the tea shop demands nothing of her. The way open-ended conversations with NPCs left me with this unsettling "wait, it’s not done yet" sensation—mirroring the exact same restlessness that keeps Alta moving, keeps her needing to push forward, even when she’s supposed to be resting, because if she stops, if she doesn’t finish this, whatever it is… something bad is going to happen.
Wanderstop is a cafe management sim where you’ll master the art of brewing tea by mixing ingredients, serving customers, and handling daily tasks like cleaning, decorating, and gardening.
It’s a hexagonal grid system, where planting seeds in straight lines or triangles determines the kinds of fruits we get. Two types of seed are available in the beginning, but as the game progresses, the possibilities expand. It’s methodical. Thoughtful. A little puzzle in itself.
